Meet Kiel Wintrow: Expanding PremierMRO’s Avionics Capabilities

Expanding PremierMRO’s Avionics Capabilities

PremierMRO is expanding its avionics capabilities with the addition of Avionics Manager Kiel Wintrow, bringing more than 20 years of hands-on experience and systems integration expertise to the team.

Kiel’s Path into Avionics

Kiel’s path into aviation started a little differently than most.

“A friend’s dad told me there was good money in aviation, and that originally got my attention,” he said.

During his junior and senior years of high school, Kiel attended the aviation program at Miami Valley Career Technology Center, graduating in 2003 with his A&P certificate. He began his career at Stevens Aviation as an aircraft detailer before moving into avionics in 2004.

More Than 20 Years of Experience

He quickly found his passion and went on to build more than 20 years of experience as a technician, lead technician, supervisor and Shop Foreman. He also developed extensive experience in systems integration, including electrical drawings and wiring diagrams used to integrate new avionics equipment into aircraft.

Today, Kiel brings that experience to PremierMRO, helping expand the company’s avionics capacity while building a strong team to support its continued growth.

“I want to build a strong, capable team,” Kiel said. “I’d like to pass along some of what I’ve learned in my career and give them opportunities to continue growing.”

A Return to Familiar Faces

Kiel also has a personal connection to PremierMRO. When Premier purchased the Stevens Aerospace and Defense facility in 2024 and retained many of its employees, Kiel saw firsthand the company’s commitment to its people and the aviation community.

When the opportunity came to return as Avionics Manager, the combination of familiar faces and the opportunity to help grow PremierMRO’s avionics capabilities made it feel like the right move.

Building for the Future

Now, Kiel is focused on building a department that can grow alongside PremierMRO and increase the company’s capacity to support customers with avionics installations, upgrades and integration.
